End the Curse of Stretch Marks

The gift of life is anything but a curse! Stretch marks, on the other hand, can feel like a memento of motherhood that isn’t necessary. When we talk about stretch marks, it does usually pertain to those that develop on the abdomen, thighs, or breasts during pregnancy. However, there is another reason for stretch marks, and it can affect men even more than women. During the years of substantial physical development, many of us experienced what were called “growing pains.” Well, for those whose height spiked over a short period, stretch marks may have also sprouted, on the arms, back, legs, or another area.
We know that stretch marks occur when the skin stretches quickly and severely. The marks are a type of scar left behind, an indicator that too much expansion has taken place. While they may fade over time, stretch marks do have a constant presence. If that presence keeps you from wearing shorts, a bathing suit, tank top, or another type of clothing, you should know there is something you can do about them.
Fractional Treatment for Stretch Marks
One of the aesthetic treatments that patients of our Midtown Manhattan office love are fractional CO2 laser resurfacing. We use the TotalFX platform, which enables Dr. Quintana to focus laser energy on deeper layers of tissue without increasing post-procedure downtime.
Fractional laser skin resurfacing is an ablative procedure, much like standard CO2 laser resurfacing. Where TotalFX differs is in the delivery of laser energy. Instead of permeating the skin with a singular beam of light, our device emits pinpoint beams, fractionated beams. This method of ablation increases the healing response of collagen proliferation while limiting tissue disturbance.
Collagen induction is behind the correction of stretch marks. Typically, when we hear that term, we do not think of laser skin resurfacing. However, collagen production is a secondary response to the introduction of tiny channels, or superficial wounds, in the skin. And because fractional lasers are gentler than standard ablative lasers, you can achieve your desired appearance without weeks of redness and peeling.
